BIGUMA®-AquaBit

BIGUMA®-AquaBit

Fast-curing, cold applied asphalt mix

Description

BIGUMA®- AquaBit is used to remove road damage, fill potholes, close ruptures and create ramps. It can be applied cold and cures very quickly thanks to the combination of active ingredients which makes it able to withstand stress shortly after application.

Available grain sizes: 0.3 mm, 0.5 mm, 0.8 mm (additional grain sizes are available upon request)

Advantages

  • Cold applied
  • Fast curing of the mixture through targeted chemical reactions
  • No machines required
  • Stable and can withstand stress after application
  • Can also be used on wet substrates
  • Range of grain sizes available for different layer thicknesses
  • Compatible with conventional bituminous building materials
  • Solvent-free and environmentally friendly

Application instructions

Application instructions

BIGUMA®- AquaBit reacts with water and humidity and cures within a short time. Protect the cold mix from moisture until just before use. Open the container immediately before application and spread the mix on the subsoil with a trowel or shovel. For ramps and hole repairs, apply slightly proud of the surface. Then wet BIGUMA®- AquaBit and compact with a hand rammer or mechanically.
For large layer thicknesses (e.g. boreholes) apply in layers with water spraying; no waiting time is required between layers.
Application is possible down to about −5 °C ambient temperature. If frost is expected and water could freeze, do not spray with water; curing will take longer. For workability, storing the mix above 10 °C is recommended. Fine sand may be sprinkled to dull the surface.

Requirements to the subsoil

Straighten damaged edges if needed and clean thoroughly of dust, dirt and loose material. The subsoil may be damp but not standing in water. On concrete or difficult substrates, bonding can be improved with BIGUMA®- Emulsion HK-S applied by brush; BIGUMA®- AquaBit can be applied immediately afterwards.

Weather conditions

Damaged areas can be filled and sprayed with water when the surface temperature is above 0 °C. Without water, application is possible down to about −5 °C; curing time increases accordingly.

Material consumption

Depending on compaction and grading, approx. 21–24 kg/m² per centimetre of layer thickness.
Primer (BIGUMA®- Emulsion HK-S): approx. 0.3–0.4 kg/m².

Cleaning agents

Equipment: BIGUMA®- SWS, petrol and commercial solvents
Skin contact: hand washing paste

Storage

At least 4 months in unopened original containers. Reclose the inliner tightly for short-term storage of opened tins. Store frost-free and dry; avoid direct sunlight and strong heat.
