Bituminous, elastic joint compound for undergrouting rails

Description

BIGUMA®- B 700 L is a bituminous compound for the undergrouting of rails and is used for balancing unevenness between the substrate and rail base in tram rails. BIGUMA®- B 700 L guarantees seamless load transfer. The rapid hardening of the compound means very short construction times and results in only short interruptions to road operation.

Application instructions

a) Melting

Use a boiler with mechanical agitation, indirect heating and thermometer—units without agitation are unsuitable (demixing). Thermostatic control. Avoid overheating.

b) Undersealing of the rail base

Material must be at specified temperature; if too low, flow suffers and voids may form. Work quickly (e.g. asphalt bucket). Confine void laterally with formwork. Undersealing ~1.5–2.5 cm wider than rail base each side. Two steps: two-thirds height, then finish after first layer is hand-hot up to rail base top; rail may briefly see up to 220 °C—compensate with weight. Not pumpable; hot liquid ex works possible.

Not in rain; surface temperature at least +5 °C.

Material consumption

Approx. 14 kg/m rail length (built-in height ~3 cm; rail base width ~28 cm).

Cleaning agents

Equipment: BIGUMA®-SWS, petrol or common solvents
At skin contact: hand cleansing paste

Storage

Cold and dry; at least 24 months.
