Description

BIGUMA®- Band Plus is a polymer-modified, rectangular formed, thermoplastic tape containing bitumen and fillers. Thanks to its special mounting aid, it can be applied without prior heating and is particularly quick and easy to lay. BIGUMA®- Band Plus is perfectly suited for sealing joints in asphalt roads. Its high movement absorption also means it can be used to join mounting sheets of different mix properties.

Application instructions

Application

Apply primer COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund per ZTV Fug-StB before the tape. Roll BIGUMA®-Band Plus along the joint edge with the separation layer facing up after removing from the carton. Remove the paper layer and press the modified side fully onto the prepared joint flank—using an applicator or a scraper. The modification bonds the tape to the asphalt flank during the build period; lasting bond completes when hot asphalt is placed. Can be applied without flame; per ZTV Fug-StB use primer and bond the “cold” side. Protect installed tape from traffic.

Requirements to the subsoil

Asphalt flanks (milled, cut or rolled) must be dry, clean, frost-free, oil- and grease-free with loose material removed. Flanks must be uniformly well compacted with good surface quality from asphalt laying.

Weather conditions

Only in dry weather and at surface temperature at least +5 °C. Below that, additional measures such as flame pre-heating of flanks are required.

Material consumption

COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund: approx. 0.03 l/m per cm layer thickness.

Equipment: BIGUMA®-SWS, petrol and commercial solvents
At skin contact: hand washing paste

Storage

Cold and dry. Max. pile height: 4 cartons. Shelf life: at least 12 months under these conditions.
