Description

BIGUMA®-DS 01 is a bituminous repair compound for filling milled recesses, transitions and slumps in roads. In addition, it is optimally suited for restoring road surfaces after the removal of road markings and for repairing rough, missing, bituminous surfaces and for patching mechanical damage or small ruptures in road surfaces. BIGUMA®-DS 01 is easy to cast and spread and is characterised by its high stability.

Application instructions

a) Melting of the repair compound

Use a boiler with mechanical agitation, indirect heating and a thermometer. Heat carefully to 180–220 °C to avoid overheating, which can damage the material. Regulate temperature thermostatically at all times.

b) Requirements to the substrate

The substrate must be dry and dust-free. Pre-treat repair areas with a high-pressure air lance if recommended. On mineral substrates such as concrete use primer COLZUMIX®-DS.

c) Pouring of the compound

BIGUMA®-DS 01 is not pumpable. Apply directly from the heater by pouring or using buckets or similar. Spread by hand, spatula or equipment such as screed or pulling boxes. For sufficient surface roughness, cover with high-quality chippings while still hot—preferably pre-bituminised 1/3 mm or 2/5 mm chippings matched to the wearing course colour; press on with a light hand roller. If the repair is later covered (e.g. road markings), check suitability case by case.

Weather conditions

Repair only in dry weather with surface temperature of the component above +5 °C.

BIGUMA®-DS 01: joint length (cm) × joint width (cm) × joint depth (cm) × sealant specific gravity (g/cm³) = consumption (g).
Primer: if COLZUMIX®-DS is required, approx. 0.3 l/m².

Cleaning agents

Equipment: BIGUMA®-SWS, petrol or commercial solvents
At skin contact: hand cleansing paste

Storage

In original tins storable for at least 24 months.
