Application instructions

a) Melting the joint sealant

Before work, thoroughly clean the agitator pot and all parts and tools that contact the sealant. To avoid colour differences, allow enough time for homogenisation and melt the required quantity in one batch. Melt BIGUMA®-N10 grey gently to 160 – 190 °C using mechanical agitation, indirect heating and a thermostatted melter. Temperature must always be controllable. Thermal overload must be avoided — it damages the polymers and voids assured properties.

b) Requirements for the substrate

If required, blow joints clean with compressed air or brush-clean, keeping cleaning and pouring work spatially separate. Use pressurised hot-air equipment for artificial drying or preheating when necessary. Generally no primer is required.

c) Filling the joints

On new paving, seal joints only after settlement under traffic loading is complete. Pour by hand or with a lance at the specified temperature. If temperature is far outside specification, fluidity suffers and joints may not fill completely; voids can later sag under traffic. Cooling can cause significant volume reduction; a second pass may be needed immediately after the first. Pour flush underneath.

Weather conditions

Joints may only be poured in dry weather and at a surface temperature above 5 °C.

Material consumption

BIGUMA®-N10 grau: joint length (m) × joint width (mm) × joint depth (mm) × sealant density (g/cm³) = consumption (g).

Cleaning agents

Equipment: petrol or common solvents
Skin contact: hand cleansing paste

Storage

Store cool and dry; shelf life at least 24 months. Observe the safety data sheet.
