Description

BIGUMA®-SAMI Band consists of a high polymer-modified bitumen compound which is applied to a backing fabric. BIGUMA®-SAMI Band acts as a buffer layer and prevents cracks from penetrating into new layers of asphalt. In addition, its sealing properties protect the underlying layers from water ingress. BIGUMA®-SAMI Band is self-adhesive and particularly easy to apply. Furthermore BIGUMA®-SAMI Band is suitable for the electrical insulation of components in the roadway (e.g. tram track ties).

Application instructions

Preparation and primer

Clean the base. Apply approx. 200–300 ml/m² COLZUMIX® adhesive primer to the bonding area; surface must be dust-free.

Application

Remove protective foil and adhere BIGUMA®-SAMI Band over the crack; optionally roll with a 10–15 kg hand roller. You may lightly melt the thin top foil with a gas torch after placement, then scatter 2–5 mm gravel and roll lightly. The tape can bridge a pause between crack filling and tape application—clean before bonding. A pause between tape and asphalt cap is possible, but avoid opening to traffic before the asphalt layer is placed.

Store frost-protected; avoid direct sunlight.
