PROXAN®-KV 2 R

PROXAN®-KV 2 R

Two-component polysulphide-based joint sealant for railway construction

Description

PROXAN®- KV 2 R is a two-component joint sealant for joints whose practical widths have the potential to expand by up to 25%. The product is pourable, has a medium viscosity and is suitable for horizontal floor joints with a maximum gradient of 10%. PROXAN®- KV 2 R is primarily intended for railway construction, as its elastic properties offer optimum absorption of the various movements between the rail and adjoining flooring. When used properly, PROXAN®- KV 2 R seals the rail joint and prevents the ingress of moisture.

Advantages

  • High chemical resistance
  • Withstands heavy mechanical loads
  • Fast-reacting
  • Good compatibility with existing material through chemical bonding
  • Isocyanate and solvent-free
  • Suitable for horizontal floor joints with a maximum gradient of 10%

Available packaging

Can 10.0 l (components A and B packed separately): 30 per pallet Tin 25.0 l (components A and B packed separately): 14 per pallet

Application instructions

Application

Joints must be clean, dry and free of loose particles, mortar residuals, dust, grease and dirt. Temperature (measured at the building part) must be between +5 °C and +40 °C; joint sealant temperature must be at least +10 °C at application. Absorbent substrate (concrete): prime with PROXAN®- CP-P or CP-S (flash-off 30 min – 2 h, not fully dry). Non-absorbent substrate (cast steel, polymer concrete): prime with PROXAN®- CP-G (flash-off 10–30 min). Cut asphalt or semi-rigid covers: prime with PROXAN®- CP-A (flash-off 2–6 h). Backfill with a non-absorbing material (PE round profile, closed cell) to correct sealing depth and avoid three-flank bonding. Add component B to component A and mix with a blade agitator at low speed until no colour stripes remain, without air inclusion. Apply into joints with hand or air gun; remove air bubbles by gently brushing with a soft brush during the application time.

Weather conditions

Temperature (building part) must be between +5 °C and +40 °C. Joint sealant temperature must be at least +10 °C at application.

Storage

Dry, at temperatures below +25 °C in unopened original packaging for up to 12 months. Not frost susceptible but must be brought to minimum +10 °C before application.
