Description

PROXAN®- KV 3 is a two-component sealant with general technical approval for use in facilities for the storage, filling and handling of water endangering liquids. It is characterised by its high resistance to mineral oils and chemicals. Once the sealant has cured, the elastic joint seal can accommodate changes in the initial joint gap width of up to 35%. The PROXAN®- KV 3 G variant is pourable, self-levelling and suitable for horizontal floor joints with a maximum gradient of 3%. The PROXAN®- KV 3 ST variant is firm and suitable for sealing vertical joints, such as skirting and wall joints. In addition, PROXAN®- KV 3 ST can be used as the adhesive for PROXAN®- FB 3 joint tape.

Application instructions

Application

Joints must be clean, dry and free of loose particles, mortar residuals, dust, grease and dirt. Temperature (building part) must be between +5 °C and +40 °C; joint sealant temperature must be at least +10 °C at application. Absorbent substrate (concrete): prime with PROXAN®- CP-P or CP-S (flash-off 30 min – 2 h, not fully dry). Non-absorbent substrate (cast steel, polymer concrete): prime with PROXAN®- CP-G (flash-off 10–30 min). Cut asphalt or semi-rigid covers: prime with PROXAN®- CP-A (flash-off 2–6 h). Backfill with a non-absorbing material (PE round profile, closed cell) to correct sealing depth and avoid three-flank bonding. KV 3 G: Add component B to component A and mix with a blade agitator at low speed until completely homogenous without white stripes and without air. Apply with hand or air gun; remove air bubbles by gently brushing. KV 3 ST: Components A and B packed together; mix with paddle mixer. Tape joint edges, smooth sealant and remove tape before curing. Mixing ratio A:B = 100:10 for both variants.

Weather conditions

Temperature (building part) must be between +5 °C and +40 °C. Joint sealant temperature must be at least +10 °C at application. Not frost susceptible but must be brought to minimum +10 °C before use.

Storage

Dry, at temperatures below +25 °C in unopened original packaging for up to 12 months.
