DOBAU®-Dachelastik

DOBAU®-Dachelastik

Solvent-based, polymer-bitumen elastic roof sealant

Description

DOBAU®-Dachelastik is a solvent-based sealant paste for creating seamless coatings (new seals and repairs) on roofs with bitumen roofing membranes as well as metallic and mineral substrates. Its thixotropic properties mean it is easy to use and can be applied economically. Only for use on exteriors.

Advantages

  • elastic and bridges cracks
  • high heat resistance
  • highly flexible and elastic, even at cold temperatures
  • high ageing and UV resistance
  • very good adhesion to bituminous and mineral substrates

Available packaging

Metal bucket: 5 kg, 10 kg, 30 kg

Application instructions

Requirements to the subsoil

The substrate to be treated must be clean, dry, free of oil and grease as well as firm and load stable. Loose components must be removed, defects reworked. Bubbles and waves in the roof upper layer to be coated must be cut out and bonded over properly. Smaller cracks and defects must be filled with DOBAU®-SP Spachtelmasse, possibly using DOBAU®-Glasseidengewebe. A bituminous primer is not necessary as a rule.

Establishing the seal

DOBAU®-Dachelastik is spread over the substrate after thorough stirring and applied in an even layer thickness in 2 work steps using a paintbrush or rubber slider. Brushstrokes should run parallel. The second layer must not be applied until the first layer has dried — usually after one day depending on weather conditions. DOBAU®-Glasseidengewebe must be used on connections and areas prone to cracking (e.g. wooden roofs, lightweight steel roofs). At connections and rising building parts, first apply the material thinly, insert the fabric, press it on and fix by painting over again.

Application notes

The roof structure must correspond to the physical construction requirements of the building and the principles of flat roof directives. Moisture entrapment is to be expected on sheeting with coarse spreading and raw felt sheeting and/or roof slopes ≤ 3°. In such cases, glue on a bitumen roofing membrane point by point as a vapour pressure equalising layer before coating. DOBAU®-Dachelastik contains aromatic solvents that attack polystyrene hard foam — use only rolled sheeting with solvent-resistant insulating materials (e.g. polyurethane, mineral fibre) during repair work. On substrates not corresponding to DIN or of unknown nature, a preliminary test for compatibility and adhesion is necessary.

Weather conditions

At the application of DOBAU®-Dachelastik the ground and air temperatures must be more than 5 °C. The effects of water, rain and frost must be avoided during the processing and drying phase.

Material consumption

Sealing flat roofs (roof slope > 3°): min. 2 layers, each 1.5 kg/m². With slate cladding (1/3 mm): approx. 1 kg/m² DOBAU®-Dachelastik + 4–6 kg/m² slate. Repairing flat roofs or protective layer (slope ≥ 1.5° < 3° with DOBAU®-Glasseidengewebe): min. 2 layers, each 1.5 kg/m².

Cleaning agents

When fresh: water
When set: BIGUMA®-SWS, common solvents or benzine
In case of skin contact: hand washing paste

Storage

DOBAU®-Dachelastik can be stored for at least 12 months in the unopened container.
