Description

Our BIGUMA®- N2 Plus joint sealant is the perfect choice for road surfaces with increased joint movement. With a movement absorption factor of 35 %, it is suitable for use on heavily trafficked surfaces made from concrete and asphalt. It is characterised by its good adhesion to bituminous and mineral substrates and the high ageing-resistance of the joint.

Application instructions

a) Melting

BIGUMA®- N2 Plus must be heated carefully to 160 – 180 °C in a boiler with mechanical agitation, indirect heating and thermometer. Temperature must be thermostatically regulated and controllable. Overheating damages polymers and voids guaranteed properties.

b) Requirements to the subsoil

Blow joints with high-pressure air or brush-clean if needed; separate cleaning from application. Hot compressed-air lances may be used for drying or pre-heating.
Use COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund N2 Plus primer matched to this sealant. It binds dust and forms an adhesive layer that fuses with the sealant. Cover joint flanks completely; prime about 1 cm on both sides of the pavement. Before filling, primer must be touch-dry; the joint must be dry and dust-free.

c) Filling of the joints

Pour by hand or with an application lance at the specified temperature. Too low a temperature reduces flow and can leave voids that sink under traffic. A suitable bedding layer may modulate sealant height, limit leakage into voids, and avoid three-flank bonding. Shrinkage may require a second pour immediately after the first. Pour under flushing.

Weather conditions

Prepared joints may only be sealed in dry weather and at a surface temperature of at least 0 °C.

Primer: COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund N2 Plus approx. 3 % of sealant quantity required.

Storage

Store cool and dry; shelf life at least 24 months. Observe the safety data sheet for handling, transport and storage.
