Description

COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund N2 Plus is a specially modified, transparent primer for BIGUMA®-N2 Plus. When combined with BIGUMA®-N2 Plus, it is particularly suitable for use on road surfaces where increased force on the joint edges is to be expected. Thanks to its excellent adhesive strength, it can also be used when, as a result of the concrete composition, a critical adhesive surface of the joint edges is to be expected.

Application instructions

a) Preparatory work

The asphalt and concrete joints to be sealed should be thoroughly blown with high-pressure air or cleaned with a brushing machine, whereas cleaning works and application works should be done as separate tasks. For artificial dry-out or pre-heating of the joints, hot compressed air lances can be used.

b) Application of the primer

The primer has the function to bind the dust sticking on the concrete and asphalt parts and to form an adhesive layer, which will later on fuse with the applied sealant. COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund N2 Plus can be applied on the joint flanks by spraying or brushing. The primer must cover the joint flanks completely by forming a film. It is recommended that a strip of about 1 cm width is applied on the road pavement on both sides of the joint. Only as much primer should be used that no material accumulates on the ground of the joint.

c) Filling of the joints

Before the application of the joint sealant, the applied primer has to be dried, meaning the surfaces must be touch-dry. The joints primed with COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund N2 Plus must be dry and free from dust in order to guarantee an intensive bonding with the concrete or asphalt. The application of the sealant should take place directly after the drying of the primer. Contamination of the dried primer with dust or water must be avoided, as this may cause a reduction of the bonding between joint flanks and sealant.

Weather conditions

The prepared joints are only allowed to be sealed at dry weather conditions and at a surface temperature of the building part of 0°C.

Material consumption

The consumption of the primer is approx. 3 % of the sealant amount needed.

Storage

Only allowed to be stored in well ventilated areas. Protect from direct sunlight. The product is storable for at least 24 months at cold and dry storage.
