COLZUMIX®-VPD

COLZUMIX®-VPD

Primer for the joint sealing system BIGUMA®-VPD

Description

COLZUMIX®-VPD is a colourless to yellowish, plastic primer for the joint sealing system BIGUMA®-VPD. It is characterised by a good bonding strength on almost all substrates as well as by a high dust penetration. Due to its thin consistence, COLZUMIX®-VPD is particularly easy to apply.

Technical standards: DIBt Z-74.6-93, DIBt Z-74.62-158, DIN EN 14188-4, Type PRH

Advantages

  • good bonding to nearly all subsoil
  • fast drying of the applied primer
  • high dust penetration
  • guarantees a good bonding between joint flanks and the applied joint sealants BIGUMA®-VPD
  • resistant against aqueous solutions, salts and thinned acids, or similar
  • thin flowing, therefore easy to apply

Technical info

Application instructions

a) Preparatory work

Blow joints thoroughly with high-pressure air or clean with a brushing machine; cleaning and application must be separate tasks. Hot compressed-air lances can be used for artificial drying or pre-heating.

b) Application of the primer

The primer binds dust adhering to joint flanks and forms an adhesive layer that later fuses with the sealant. Apply COLZUMIX®-VPD by spraying or brushing; the primer must completely cover the flanks as a film. Use only as much primer as needed so no material pools in the bottom of the joint.

c) Pouring of the joint sealant

Before applying sealant, the primer must be touch-dry; joints must be dry and dust-free. Apply sealant directly after primer has dried. Avoid contaminating dried primer with dust or water — this may reduce bond between flanks and sealant.

Weather conditions

Prepared joints may only be sealed in dry weather and at a surface temperature above +5 °C.

Material consumption

COLZUMIX®-VPD: approx. 3 % of the sealant quantity required.

Cleaning agents

Equipment (not hardened primer): petrol and commercial solvents
Skin contact: hand cleansing paste

Storage

Store only in well-ventilated areas; protect from direct sunlight. Shelf life at least 24 months when stored cool and dry. Observe the safety data sheet.
