Description

DOBAU®-Abdichtungsbahn KSK (DOBAU®-Sealing Membrane) is a cold self-adhesive polymer-bitumen membrane for sealing structures against spray water, soil moisture and non-pressing water (DIN EN 13969 and DIN SPEC 20000-202: 2016-03; tables 18 and 19) as well as L or Z barrier for double wall masonry.

Requirements to the subsoil

Joint-tight concrete, plaster PII b, PIII b according to DIN 18550, masonry erected from bricks according to DIN, lime sandstone, lightweight concrete and hollow concrete blocks as well as cellular concrete are suitable as a substrate. The masonry must be completely filled, if necessary with smooth joint filling. The dry substrate must be smooth and firm with sufficient load bearing capacity and free of dust or impurities. It must be free of nests, cavities, cracks and burrs, dust, tar, pitch, formwork oil, old coatings or other layers that may impair adhesion. Fillets must be formed at the transition from horizontal to vertical areas, e.g. with BIGUMA®-Dreieck Band. DOBAU®-Abdichtungsbahn KSK can be processed without primer at temperatures of 5 °C and above. At cold temperatures, the substrate must be primed with COLZUMIX®-Haftgrund. DOBAU®-Abdichtungsbahn KSK should be stored at room temperature before processing. At 20 °C and 50 % air humidity, primer drying time is approx. 2 hours (consumption approx. 200 g/m²). The primer must be fully dried before bonding; the sheet must be bonded within 6 hours of priming, otherwise re-priming is required.

Processing

Apply 20–30 cm wide reinforcement strips of DOBAU®-Abdichtungsbahn KSK on all corners and edges. Cut to length, pull off the separating film and press firmly with a rubber roller. Lay out the sheet, cut to required length and roll up again. Pull the separating film off at the sheet start, align and bond by progressively pulling off the separating sheet. Press evenly from the centre, avoiding folds and air bubbles, then press firmly with a rubber roller. Remove the separating strips from the previously applied sealing sheet. Apply each subsequent sheet with approx. 8 cm overlap. On vertical surfaces, secure the upper termination with plaster rails or flashing strips.

Protection of the sealing / perimeter insulation

Insulation boards can be applied using the point bonding method immediately after sealing. Apply 5–8 adhesion points per m² (approx. 10 × 10 cm adhesive tape) onto the rear of the board, peel the clear film, bond the tape to the board, remove the second transparent film and press the board onto the wall. Always ensure an even substrate. The excavation pit must be filled within 72 hours after sealing and applying mechanical protection and perimeter insulation.

Please note

Secure bonding will not be possible if condensation has formed on the primed surface. A dry substrate must be ensured before bonding. Point and line loads as well as loads that impair the functionality of the seal by indentation must be avoided.

Storage

Min. 12 months shelf life if unopened in the original carton. Protect from direct sunlight, keep cool and dry.
